We have mats and props at the studio for your use – no charge. We have water (in bottles) available for 50 cents, or feel free to bring your own.
Session-based classes are designated below with an asterisk – you are welcome to drop in to session-based classes as well.
JAMES RIVER YOGA embraces many styles of yoga and all opportunities to learn and deepen understanding of what yoga can do for body, mind and spirit. Classes are led by teachers with the desire to share their passion and understanding of a particular style, technique, or approach to Yoga. PLEASE READ THE CLASS DESCRIPTIONS ON THE “CLASS DESCRIPTIONS” PAGE; WE WANT YOU TO BE SAFE AND SOME CLASSES ARE NOT APPROPRIATE FOR FIRST TIME YOGIS. Our teachers arrive early to class, so we are available to speak with you in private about any physical and/or emotional issues that may have an impact on your practice. We are here to serve you and it is our joy and privilege.
PLEASE CHOOSE AN APPROPRIATE CLASS – if you are learning to ski, you wouldn’t take the lift to the top of a black diamond slope and expect to survive the trip down; if you are learning to swim, you don’t start by jumping into water 12 feet deep. Think of yoga in the same way; if you are a beginner, please sign up for either Beginner or Extra Gentle Class. Sign up for an All Levels class if you need a little less guidance. Yoga can be challenging and it requires attention to the breath and to details of alignment. It takes practice over time and will be a life long benefit. Don’t short change yourself by skipping the important basics! Thank you!

NOTE: On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:00-7:15 p.m., Mike Cundiff teaches Vinyasa (intermediate level) in our shared studio space.
* CLASSES TAUGHT BY NANCY are offered as 10 week Sessions. 1.5 hour class = $100 for 10 weeks; 1 hour AND 1 hour 15 minute class = $90 for 10 weeks. Drop ins are always welcome and you don’t have to wait until the beginning of the next session to start! If you sign up for a session and find that you have to miss a class, YOU CAN MAKE UP IN ANY OTHER “SESSION” CLASS; you can also “make up” in advance if you know you will have to miss an upcoming class. Make-ups must be completed before the session is over.

CLASSES THAT ARE NOT SESSION CLASSES ARE CLASS PASS, AND MINDFULNESS MEDITATION IS FREE.
